Ms. Amy Lesko’s Bitchin’ Bugs
Ms. Amy Lesko has created a fabulous illustrated book giving a plethora of insect facts, a short comic, articles and plenty more. Bitchin’ Bugs is a funky book about the insect world directed towards a more adult audience.
Using a gorgeous limited colour palette and fantastic attention to detail, this beautifully designed and illustrated book really is a must have for anyone with an interest in insects, illustration or both.
Ms. Lesko designed the book herself and is risograph printed in-house and hand finished at Dizzy Ink, Nottingham by Mr. Craig Proud and Ms. Lesko. The book features an A2 throwout which really pushes the limits of risograph printing, the throwout page took 2 days by itself! Bitchin’ Bugs also has perforated pages on thicker stocks so that the reader can tear out bug recipe cards and even make their own stag beetle! There are three inserts printed onto GF Smith Colorplan stocks; Candy Pink, Citrine and Stone, which break up the pace and add another level to the read.
The front cover is protected by a translucent stock which features some groovy little bugs which interact with the image behind.
