inspiration: Come to ‘Play’ | Inkygoodness Exhibition

Come to Play

The day is nearly upon us. The day we go to ‘Play’. Come join in the fun and be inspired by the imaginations of 40+ artists, their interpretations of the theme ‘Play’ for this fantastic Inkygoodness Exhibition.

I was down there yesterday (delivering my artwork – yes, I’m also participating) and the East gallery is literally overflowing with new and eye popping wonders. There’s so much work that the organisers are having trouble fitting everything in, trying to cleverly use up every part of available wall space.

The super talented McBess was also down at the gallery covering the entrance wall with a Gigantic masterpiece. It was quite breathtaking to see him work, and actually shake hands with such a great man.

So what else is there to say. Come and see it with your own eyes. It’s going to be one of the biggest exhibitions of this year.

main-1

First off, we would like to apoligise for the lack of updates these 2 weeks due to the busyness of real work, the organising of our Charity project – the Renmen Project, and one of the Thunder Chunky crew getting married, Hurray!

I’m sure you’ll understand, so without further delay we’re excited to announce our 2 week competition giving away 4 Super Slick, Gorgeous prints (Yes, you want them don’t you?) from our friends at KneeDeepInSleep.

“Kneedeepinsleep is the creative outlet of British artist and photographer Ben Thomas. Founded four years ago, we produce premium quality, limited edition tshirts, clothing, art and goods.”

Due to the generosity of KDIS in celebration of the release of new print Zodiac Blues, we have decided to split the competition in to 2 weeks so more people can win. The winner of the first 2 prints will be announced a week from today on Twitter, and then the next competition for 2 more prints will start straight after. Keep your eyes peeled…

“…Are you an aspiring designer? Would you like to see your very own design as a permanent fixture in one of Liverpool’s finest bars AND win a pair of tickets to this year’s T in the Park festival?…”

Red Bull are offering you the chance to design a bespoke fridge as part of Liverpool Sound City. The designs should be based around the theme of Sound City, Liverpool and Music theme, however all variations and interpretations of this are welcome.

Swig a few Redbull’s and start designing because all entry’s should be sent to nick@liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk no later than Friday 7th May.

Sawdust_01

A week or 2 ago I was introduced to the work of slick and stylish London based graphic designer duo Rob Gonzalez and Jonathan Quainton, working under the identity Sawdust. Their newest project for an independent music artist named Angel–A was particularly eye catching.

“..They work in areas of art direction, design, image-making and typography across sectors that include music, art and culture, fashion and advertising..”

inspiration: Lee Carter has a site!

lee-carter

It was way back in 2005 when we interviewed concept artist, illustrator and friend-of-TC Lee Carter. And now, a mere five years later, he has a portfolio site sorted! It’s really great to see all his dark (and sometimes slightly disturbing) work all in one place, and we especially loved seeing loads of his sketchbook work too!

So if you have a spare couple of minutes then go check out Lee’s new site! (Warning: some of the images aren’t work-safe)
