Kicking off today, featuring new paintings and drawings, in conjunction with the new store opening of ActuallyActually, Singapore. Eeshaun must be one of the hardest working illustrators in Singapore. Looking at his portfolio puts most of us to shame. In just 2009 alone, he’s produced over 25+ new pieces of work, with clients ranging from Ikea, Yahoo, Hewlett Packard, Addidas to name a few. This exhibition shows off his immense talent and creativity, infecting us with his own unique style.

inspiration: G40 Money Printing

MM-Main

Money makes the world go round, we need it to survive our day to day lives and cover our basic necessities. It gives us the power to make the lives of our families better, but it is also the thing which makes us lie, cheat and steal.

Our good friend Kenn Munk has set up this clever little exhibition piece, bridging the gap between art and design, exploring our never ending need for ‘more money’. This low tech money printing station allows you to print as much money as you want, then pay whatever amount you feel it is worth. Kenn even expects people to leave sweet wrappers and other bits of rubbish in the safe box, or even rob it, but this just further strengthens the meaning behind the art installation.

This money printing station is a part of Art Whino, Crystal City BID and Vornado’s G-40: The Summit, a month long (March 2010) exhibition and event series featuring over 800 artists from around the world.

“..Our mission is to bring you the largest body of work from innovators of the New Brow Art otherwise labeled Pop-Surrealism, Lowbrow and Urban Contemporary worldwide to one place. Our collection of artists has grown to 800 strong..” – Art Whino

inspiration: Life in 2050 Exhibition | Competition

LifeIn2050

40 years ago man took his first small steps on the moon, and the internet was born. What wonders and technologies will grace the world in another 40 years time? The exhibition Life in 2050 will explore the minds of several talented creatives, and show you their imaginations of the world in pretty pictures.

“..Life on Mars, flying cars, alien integration and robots performing mundane household chores ought to be commonplace by 2010. But it hasn’t worked out the way it was predicted..” – Life in 2050

The exhibition is created by design studio, Transmission, for the up coming Sci-Fi London festive during April – May, at the exciting new Chapter1Gallery.

Not only have they picked out some of the most exciting creatives for the exhibition, Transmission are looking for 1 more amazing talent to add to their line up. You don’t have to be a psychic or a time traveler to see glimpses of the future. Just use that creative side of the brain, and maybe you’ll be a part of this epic exhibition too. Visit Life in 2050 for more information. Deadline 1st March.

inspiration: The Renmen Project launches

the-renmen-project

Any of you who follow us on Twitter will have seen us discussing this already, but for everyone else, we’ve finally launched our charity project, alongside Ben The Illustrator, which is called The Renmen Project.

Renmen in the Haitian word for love, and with the help of some top artists from around the globe, we’re aiming to raise a stack of much needed money for UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.

Straight off the bat we have a rare opportunity for you to buy one of 100 hand-drawn Ben The Illustrator pieces for just £10, with 100% of that money going to UNICEF. Get in there quick though as the drawings have been selling fast over the weekend!

That £10 can buy a Haitian family a much needed water kit

So go buy yourself a drawing, and please, please, please spread the word however you can – then fingers crossed we’ll make a little bit of a difference!

report: Help Haiti

Help-Haiti

During this short period of time since the tragedy happened, many projects and donations have already started up from the design world. We the Designers, Illustrators, Creatives, Artists, do what we do best; we offer up our skills, and do whatever we can for the people involved in the Haiti earthquake.

Tomorrow we here at Thunder Chunky are going to be launching our own project to help raise some money for the cause, but in the mean time we’ve rounded up a few projects which are currently running, raising money to Help Haiti. We hope that you can show your support by visiting these sites, and spend some money if you haven’t donated already.

inspiration: Vintage Joy with The Red Dress

red-dress-1

Calling all B-movie lovers and retro futurist sci-fans! We have some lovely art work for you here by The Red Dress. Olivia Chancellor and Ollie Bland are a husband and wife illustration duo working out of their London studio, pumping out vintage visuals which will make your heart throb with joy!

Throughout their 10 year career they have lovingly crafted their stylised imagery with oil, acrylic and digital media. This had led to a diverse client base in the fashion, motion and art worlds.

Personally the work reminds me of the glory days of reading exciting fiction books in primary / secondary school!

You can follow the Red Dress on twitter – @The_Red_Dress. Also, there’s Red Dress on Debut Art. And of course, there’s The Red Dress site

inspiration: Go Penguins invade Liverpool

GoPen-main01

Update: So, they’re finally here… those pesky little Go Penguins! have invaded the Pool. We found out about their schemes back in July, and half a year later they’ve made their move. An Elite team of Thunder Chunky agents infiltrated a secret warehouse location late November to find the army of 200+ strong Go Penguins gearing up. We managed to smuggle out some close ups of the most dangerous ones just before they left for the invasion.

“..Go Penguins is a public art explosion of unrivalled proportions. Over 200 individual works of art will adorn and animate Merseyside’s streets throughout Christmas and New Year, bringing a very special brand of festive sparkle to the holiday season..”
