There is a strange little garden located in Singapore. This garden is called ‘GardenSilly’, and the master of this place is ‘Eeshaun’, possibly Singapore’s answer to Jon Burgerman. He doodles all day and all night, on anything he can get his hands on, from walls to post boxes, chairs to bags, etc, etc, etc. But that’s not all; he’s also responsible for educating the new blood of the Singaporean art and design scene, helping shape the culture and identity of his country.

Sokkuan is a super hardworking, talented individual (from Malaysia / based in Singapore) with grand ambitions. She hopes to be a rich fulltime professional housewife… but hopefully she won’t give up on her illustration career. She’s well-versed in a variety of illustration styles, but her Sophie Black character is where she truly shows her charm. I engage Sokkuan in a series of strange and weird questions, with some normal ones thrown in there as well, just so it makes a little sense.

Comic, and art fans alike should start getting excited about the release of Liquid City, in November. A showcase of some of the best and emerging talents from Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and more. Already familiar with the American comics, the Japanese manga, (and breaking through in recent years), the Korean manhwa?… this collection of work will expose you to the Southeast Asian comic / art scene.
“LIQUID CITY presents the unique visions of artists and writers based mainly in Southeast Asia,” said editor Sonny Liew. “The creators involved range from established figures in the region’s comics communities like Lat and Gerry Alanguilan, to exciting new talents like Nguyen Thanh Pong, kenfoo and Shari Chankhamma.”
Our good friend Kuanth (who we interviewed recently) also features with a short comic piece, thanks to him for this link.

Everyone makes mistakes. Every artist, designer, every human being does. We all do, but according to Kuanth, mistakes are a good thing, and I have to agree with him completely. “…perfection is boring, and mistakes can be beautiful…” they keep things interesting, unpredictable, exciting. So please enjoy the following interview, it is probably full of mistakes by me… but hopefully still fun, with a human touch and insightful into the ideas from Kuanth…

Witty, humorous, dark, thoughtful and always questioning our sensibilities; We welcome back Tat and Vi from Graphic Airlines (G.A.L.) who contributed to the TC Xmas project last year. We have managed to drag them away briefly from their busy schedules to answer a few questions for us. Please board the Graphic Airlines, and I hope you enjoy the journey into their minds.
