inspiration: The Renmen Project launches

the-renmen-project

Any of you who follow us on Twitter will have seen us discussing this already, but for everyone else, we’ve finally launched our charity project, alongside Ben The Illustrator, which is called The Renmen Project.

Renmen in the Haitian word for love, and with the help of some top artists from around the globe, we’re aiming to raise a stack of much needed money for UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.

Straight off the bat we have a rare opportunity for you to buy one of 100 hand-drawn Ben The Illustrator pieces for just £10, with 100% of that money going to UNICEF. Get in there quick though as the drawings have been selling fast over the weekend!

That £10 can buy a Haitian family a much needed water kit

So go buy yourself a drawing, and please, please, please spread the word however you can – then fingers crossed we’ll make a little bit of a difference!

inspiration: TC Time Capsule: Part 1

TC-TIMECAP-newgraphic

To mark the end of the Noughties decade we’ve decided to put together a time capsule of artwork to represent the last ten years. We’ve invited some of our favourite artists to hand-pick one piece of work they feel they would like to represent themselves and write a few words describing their choice. As you’ll see above, we have an all-singing, all-dancing interactive time capsule for you to enjoy, and we’ll be posting updates throughout the rest of December!

inspiration: Urban Paper Exhibition – Tokyo

paperMAIN

During the last 2 weeks there has been a wonderful little exhibition happening at the inspiring Cafe Pause in Tokyo. Run by the writer Jean Snow, this little place holds regular Art and Design exhibitions, live events and talks. The latest destination for the Urban Paper Exhibition is this lovely place.

The exhibition features a load of Thunder Chunky’s favourites and friends, including Ben the Illustrator | Dolly Oblong | Josh McKible | Kenn Munk and Maarten Janssens. Finishing after this weekend, we advise people to fly over ‘right now’ and pay a visit.

“…Paper toys have been around for almost as long as paper itself, but what’s new is that paper toys have recently become a medium of choice for young designers. Because paper is cheap, light and recyclable it has become a populist alternative for artists who previously might have released their toys as collectible vinyl figures…”

The list of all artists showing work: Marshall Alexander, Christopher Bonnette, Matthew Hawkins, Ben the Illustrator, Jack Hankins, LouLou, Nick Knite, Josh McKible, Maarten Janssens, Dolly Oblong, Kenn Munk, Matthijs Kamstra, Jerom, Sjors Trimbach, Ringo Krumbiegel

inspiration: Ben the Illustrator’s Animal Collection

naturegamexTC

Thunder Chunky’s bestest friend Ben the Illustrator has been out and about in the wild recently, gathering up a whole collection of animal buddies. We all love animals here at TC, so we’re extremely excited about Ben’s new Animal Series art prints. There are 10 new prints available, all A3+ sized (13″ x 19″) Giclee prints on Ultrasmooth Fine Art paper, signed by Ben!

“As the wonders of Autumn roll into the UK and we all head indoors to get cosy, what better time to bring a new animal into your home, to love, care and enjoy! We are super happy to announce the launch of our latest set of art prints, The Animal Collection!”

If your not a fan of animals (shame shame), you can still find tonnes of lovelies from Ben’s wiseyouwerehere store. From cushions, to wallpapers, to other fun art prints, all in his super colourful, super bright and cheerful style, bringing the fun back to your dull rooms.

inspiration: In progress with Ben The Illustrator

Track down some colour

Today on Thunder Chunky we’ll be following Ben The Illustrator as he creates a new Giclee print, all the way from initial sketch through to the final printing process. We’ll be posting live updates throughout the day on our Twitter page (@thunderchunkyuk) and to make it even more interesting we’ll be opening it up and asking for opinions on colour options, getting feedback on progress and then at the end of the day we’ll be giving away one of the freshly made prints!

Above is the first sketch to get things going, so make sure you follow us (@thunderchunkyuk) and Ben (@benandfi), and hopefully we’ll have a fun and enlightening day! And if you can spread the word to your friends by tweeting about it as well, we’d be very appreciative!
