40 years ago man took his first small steps on the moon, and the internet was born. What wonders and technologies will grace the world in another 40 years time? The exhibition Life in 2050 will explore the minds of several talented creatives, and show you their imaginations of the world in pretty pictures.

“..Life on Mars, flying cars, alien integration and robots performing mundane household chores ought to be commonplace by 2010. But it hasn’t worked out the way it was predicted..” – Life in 2050

The exhibition is created by design studio, Transmission, for the up coming Sci-Fi London festive during April – May, at the exciting new Chapter1Gallery.

Not only have they picked out some of the most exciting creatives for the exhibition, Transmission are looking for 1 more amazing talent to add to their line up. You don’t have to be a psychic or a time traveler to see glimpses of the future. Just use that creative side of the brain, and maybe you’ll be a part of this epic exhibition too. Did you see the JAM bus? No, I’m not talking about the public transport covered with tasty, fruity spread that you put on your toast and porridge, I’m referring to the creative fashion trade fair, JAM Berlin’s bus. Well, it’s the public transport covered with fresh, colourful doodles, so not far off.

“..JAM BERLIN is the trade fair for established labels as well as young and innovative brands from segments such as jeans & sportswear, womens- & menswear, accessories & lifestyle…”

The competition was launched last December, for fellow artists to ‘Pimp the bus’ by La Fraise. It’s their first none T-shirt competition, and it was a great success. Having your design on the side of a double decker bus, driving around one of the creative capitals of the world is pretty special.

The winner, Maxime Archambault aka S3, created some bold and stunning artwork for the bus. Photos were released a few weeks back, with the bus looking all funky and eye catching in the streets. (View more photos below, and even more photos on his Behance).

For all you Pixar fans out there, there’s a real treat for you coming up! Publisher DK is releasing a new book called Pixarpedia which, as the name suggests, is an encyclopedia of everything Pixar! They kindly sent us an advance copy and we can vouch for just how good the book is. Full of brilliant artwork and in-depth detail about all the key characters from all the films, there’s also behind-the-scenes interviews with key staff covering areas such as graphic design and sound engineering. And to celebrate the release of the book, DK have teamed up with Pixar and Total Film to launch an animation competition, with the amazing prize of an exclusive trip for two to Pixar Animation Studios in San Francisco!! Here’s what’s involved:

Create an original animation on the theme of ‘An Animated Adventure’

Short-listed animations will be judged by a team of Pixar artists, so that’s a pretty darn good opportunity for exposure in itself! You’ve got until the end of November to enter, and there’s more details over on the official Pixarpedia page.

Ahem.. testing testing, hello all, this is Stephen Chan, an editor of Thunder Chunky. Today I have Hijacked TC for my personal use, and as a thank you, to all loyal TC + SC lovers and regulars (oh, and as a build up to my birthday, which is also MJ’s birthday). Part One: I’m going to launch my first competition to win one of my screenprints (featured as a part of the Editions / Power in Numbers Exhibition by Cure Studio and Print Club London) The idea behind the print plays with the exhibition theme ‘Power in Numbers’, how this power if misused can lead to war and destruction, but if used wisely can stop wars and create peace.

Instructions on how to win one of these screenprints:

“All you have to do is use your wonderful gift of imagination, and come up with an interesting, weird, wacky, delightful, etc answer to complete this simple sentence “…if I had 1000…” eg. “…if i had 1000 > jellybeans, I would grow a jellybean forest and make a land of candy…”
