If you were lucky enough to be in Liverpool during the last 3 months, you would have seen the 125 miniature ‘Super Lamb Bananas’ at various locations around the city. Unfortunately, the ‘Super Lamb Bananas’ have just been auctioned off a few days ago. Luckily, the Thunder Chunky team discovered them just before the auction, as they were gathered for cleaning up and signing by the artists in a secret location. It was definitely a sight to behold, as we entered the building and were greeted by a sea of Lamb Bananas. Here are a few pics that we took… goodbye Lamb Bananas! Thanks to Zotos for the photos.

If you’ve not heard in the news, Liverpool has been invaded by a giant mechanical spider (thanks to Antri for the awesome atmospheric pics!). It’s been exploring the city for the last couple of days and will carry on doing so over the weekend. Part of a show called La Machine, it’s the brain-child of French mechanical mastermind François Delarozière, who was behind the mechanical elephant which stomped through London in 2006. If you can make it to Liverpool this weekend then it’s well worth a look!
Other bonzer things…
JB tattoo, styrofoam robot and Michael C. Place
Samantha asked for a special Jon Burgerman tattoo - now that’s a real fan! Kevin Kelly has created a massive styrofoam robot (via eBoy). Finally, Michael C. Place, formerly of The Designers’ Republic and now with Build has produced a great new advert for Pritt, showing him creating a large mural artwork. You can see the video here and see behind the scenes pics on Build’s site.

If you’ve ever attempted a doodle after a few pints then you’ll know that fun can be had. Draw the Line at the Basement Bar, Django’s Riff in Liverpool is a monthly event that allows illustrators and artists to chill out and enjoy the art of doodling… as you can tell from the pics!
Other interesting things
Left-right: Zulmira, Scary Ideas, Twink
We’ve been enjoying the spacial illustrations from Zulmira, advertising gone wrong over at Scary Ideas and the slightly mental, toy piano band Twink.

We are truly on the cusp of a design revolution, with cool kids such as Jellymon, rebellious stalwarts Graphic Airlines, legendary veteran designer Han Meilin and a whole host of other plucky expressive individuals and studios bashing out a plethora of stunning work, it would be rude not to see what’s happening out there. So we picked out a selection of our favourite designers to update you on.

If you’ve been to Hong Kong, you’ve probably seen their graffiti, their characters. Witty, humorous, dark, thoughtful and always questioning our sensibilities; We welcome back Tat and Vi from Graphic Airlines (G.A.L.) who contributed to the TC Xmas project last year. We have managed to drag them away briefly from their busy schedules to answer a few questions for us. Please board the Graphic Airlines, and I hope you enjoy the journey into their minds.

North Kingdom are one of the hottest multimedia studios around. With a mightily impressive client list including Coca-Cola and Toyota, they’re the agency of choice for anyone looking for a Flash site which goes above and beyond the usual user experience. Having just launched their new creation, The Coke Zero Game, we were able to catch up with one of their designers, Mikael Forsgren, to find out a bit more info.

As someone who has worked on a host of the biggest movies to have hit our cinemas in recent years, Susan Bradley has a wealth of experience in title design, graphics and direction in the movie industry. She was manager of Walt Disney Studios’ Title Graphics Department for six years before moving on to design titles for a number of live action films. In 2006 she teamed up with the Pixar gang again and was involved in their recent animated success, Ratatouille. We were lucky enough to grab some of her time to ask her some questions about the film, the studio and her love of title design.
