Doncaster-based illustrator Al Heighton is probably familiar to a lot of our UK readers, as his work has graced the pages of many publications and is a regular contributor to the Guardian. As mentioned in our Paper & Ink post back in July, the brilliant Kev Speck has decided to push his work in a whole new direction. Known for his layered, textured and striking digital illustrations, Kev has ditched the jpegs in preference for the felt tip and pencil. His Blind Drawings are based on small snippets of Kev’s life, be they personal thoughts or references to obscure lyrics from songs, and result in fascinating little doodles. There’s now a new Blind Drawings site as well where you can explore the images and also order prints… or even request a bespoke creation! Oh and 10% of all sales go to the RNIB.

If you’ve ever attempted a doodle after a few pints then you’ll know that fun can be had. Draw the Line at the Basement Bar, Django’s Riff in Liverpool is a monthly event that allows illustrators and artists to chill out and enjoy the art of doodling… as you can tell from the pics!
Other interesting things
Left-right: Zulmira, Scary Ideas, Twink
We’ve been enjoying the spacial illustrations from Zulmira, advertising gone wrong over at Scary Ideas and the slightly mental, toy piano band Twink.
