“Designers Against Child Slavery is a Design group that enables creatives from all over the world to rise up against sex trafficking in Southeast Asia.”
Read more about the project DACS and don’t forget there is a call for artists, if you would like to get involved.
The work above is by one of the participants of the project – Chatchanok Wongvachara. It’s called “PURE” and it’s indeed very pure and dreamy. The meaning and inspiration of this artworks as she explains is: “Don’t take the innocent of mind and soul away, please make them pure and bright for the sake of all. Free from Harm and Weakness”
Well done Chatchanok! Hope this amazing typographic illustration will inspire more artists to participate.
You can check out Chatchanok on Behance, and also Chatchanok’s blog for more work. Below are work-in-progress shots of the above piece.

As mentioned in the previous post by Stephen, we’ve been a bit slack at bring fresh stuff to you here on TC of late… too many work commitments… but to make up for it I shall be banging up some quick fire posts of creative goodness, starting now…
Jason Allsebrook (aka Newgiraffecity) is a UK-based illustrator with a passion for doodling and sketching. There’s something very satisfying about seeing actual pages of a sketchbook with sketches on (it’s in the name!)… and there’s plenty to enjoy over on Jason’s site!

It was way back in 2005 when we interviewed concept artist, illustrator and friend-of-TC Lee Carter. And now, a mere five years later, he has a portfolio site sorted! It’s really great to see all his dark (and sometimes slightly disturbing) work all in one place, and we especially loved seeing loads of his sketchbook work too!
So if you have a spare couple of minutes then go check out Lee’s new site! (Warning: some of the images aren’t work-safe)

The Picture Book Report is a brand new illustration project dreamed up by the super talented painter/doodler, Meg Hunt.
“..Picture Book Report is an extended love-song to books. Fifteen illustrators will reach out to their favorite books and create wonderful pieces of art in response to the text that has moved them, shaped them, or excited them. From sci-fi to children’s books to fantasy to serious novels, we’ll cover them all..” – Meg Hunt
So, at the beginning of each month 15 new illustrations will be released, one after the other starting with the covers. The story has started this month with Meg Hunt’s ‘Alice in Wonderland, and Will Bryant’s ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’. It’s quite exciting waiting for the next picture to come out each day, and seeing how each artist depicts their favourite book. With so much to see, and new illustrations from such wonderful artists nearly everyday, it’s a project to be bookmarked right away.
Contributors: Meg Hunt, Will Bryant, Sam Bosma, Julia Sonmi Heglund, John Martz, Andrea Kalfas, Lizzy Stewart, S.britt, Daniel Krall, PMurphy, Israel Sanchez, Jeremy Sorese, Laura Park, Phil McAndrew, Kali Ciesemier

One day, in the early month of February at Thunder Chunky HQ, under a mountain of paper and magazines, next to the post-it notes and the Chuck Norris-isms book laid a small black square comic. Not just any comic, it was the McBess ‘Malevolent Melody’ comic.
“..Malevolent Melody – tells the story of a young McBess’s journey through forgotten melodies to find the ultimate source of his character’s amnesia..”
This awesome short story leads up to the unveiling of a Vinyl record at the back of the book. With a pen in one hand, and a guitar in the other, McBess blows our minds with his artwork, followed by the powerful sounds from his band, ‘The Dead Pirates’ (Watch the McBess Music Video).
Released last year Nov/Dec 2009, it’s McBess’s first comic, in collaboration with the freshest and hippest new publishers in town, Nobrow.
