inspiration: Kidrobot Lands in London!

kr-pickle01

When Kidrobot says it’s going to open a store in your country’s capital it’s momentus and everyone turns out. This is especially true when character loving superheros TADO turn out to sign, doodle and graffiti over your precious vinyl items. Hoardes of people turned out last Thursday for the official launch night with queues as long as 2hrs just to get in the store! Our friend punkypickle swung by to checkout out all the madness and take some cool photos.

Situated on Earlham Street, Covent Garden, London, the new Kidrobot store hopes to bring vinyl designer goodness to all it’s UK fans and I for one will be make a trip down to London soon to grab me some Kidrobot action!

inspiration: Shane Jessup’s SDCC Lucky Cat

I’ve been out of the dunny collecting game for a while now but decided to check out the Kidrobot forum for any new news coming up before the San Diego Comic Con hits us. I am glad to see Kidrobot are ready to release Shane Jessup’s beautiful Lucky Cat Dunny during this year’s San Diego Comic Con! Shane’s Lucky Cat design is based on the common Japanese sculpture Maneki Neko and sits perfectly on the dunny mould. Being one of the more popular designs from the Dunny Series 4, it should be no surprise a large 8inch version would appear.

Now people going to the SDCC can pick up an exclusive black Luck Edition with a production run of only 200. If you’re unlucky enough to miss out on this then maybe go for the gold Fortune edition with a higher run of 1000 available from all kidrobot and select stores. Now let’s see if I have enough good fortune in bagging the black Luck Edition ‚Äì anyone want to be my mule?

Rainy Day Dunny

We’re a bit behind the times on this one, but we’ve just spotted the new Jon Burgerman Rainy Day Dunny that Kidrobot have launched. Inspired by the subject matter, Kidrobot have come up with a cool little marketing ploy… you can only buy the toy from Kidrobot stores (including online) when it has rained in that particular city! The forecast for today is dry, but keep you eye on the Kidrobot store and you may be able to grab yourself one when it pours!

Kidpunk vinyl

Even when the world is credit-crunched-out, there’s always some thing which are just worth making an exception for. On that list would be Kidrobot’s new Kidpunk vinyls. As you may have guessed from it’s name, the range pays homage to the punk rock era of the late seventies and early eighties. There’s three editions… ‘77, ‘80 and ‘84. And each comes with it’s own band tee and vinyl record from that year. Stitch that! They’re available from the Kidrobot store tomorrow (Thurs 8th Jan) so get your wallets out and do the right thing!
