We all used to love colouring in when we were kids. Most of us still do, but we just don’t do it as much as we used to. So, here’s your excuse to break open a box of crayolas’ and turning everything rainbow coloured. Patterns for Colouring is the splendid idea of one Carlton Hibbert. Established for around 1 year, with a collection of 178 patterns and continuously growing.

“..Here’s a site for all those who love to colour in patterns and is packed full of free colouring pages. There are designs for all ages. All you need to do is choose the pattern you like best, download it, print it out and get colouring. It’s easy and great fun – perfect for people who like to doodle but don’t know what to doodle…” – Patterns for Colouring
It’s fun colouring other people’s patterns, but what will it be like to have one of your own creations being coloured in by hundreds of children? Are you an artist? Want to be involved in this grand project? Take a quick look over at the submissions page for guidelines.

It all started with a simple idea and a rough little sketch back in March 2009. A year later and that simple idea and rough sketch has become a living and breathing creature, boasting over 130+ patterns and expanding and growing at exponential rates, this is Repeat X Repeat Y.
(featured above: Ben the illustrator | Dominic Le-Hair | Stephen Chan)
“..We are big fans of repeating patterns and feel they should get the recognition they truly deserve, thus Repeat-x Repeat-y is born. The aim of the site is to showcase the best repeating patterns from around the world, and make them freely available (for non-commercial use).
Already the site has over 100 patterns from amazing illustrators, artists & designers, such as Matt Lyons, Ben the illustrator, Aimee Wilder, Matt Booth, Jonny Wan, Stephen Chan, Jen Collins, the boy fitz hammond, Jeffery Bowman, Gregg Abbott and many more.
We want the site to keep on growing, to attract even more talent and more awesome patterns..” – Repeat X Repeat Y

The Picture Book Report is a brand new illustration project dreamed up by the super talented painter/doodler, Meg Hunt.
“..Picture Book Report is an extended love-song to books. Fifteen illustrators will reach out to their favorite books and create wonderful pieces of art in response to the text that has moved them, shaped them, or excited them. From sci-fi to children’s books to fantasy to serious novels, we’ll cover them all..” – Meg Hunt
So, at the beginning of each month 15 new illustrations will be released, one after the other starting with the covers. The story has started this month with Meg Hunt’s ‘Alice in Wonderland, and Will Bryant’s ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’. It’s quite exciting waiting for the next picture to come out each day, and seeing how each artist depicts their favourite book. With so much to see, and new illustrations from such wonderful artists nearly everyday, it’s a project to be bookmarked right away.
Contributors: Meg Hunt, Will Bryant, Sam Bosma, Julia Sonmi Heglund, John Martz, Andrea Kalfas, Lizzy Stewart, S.britt, Daniel Krall, PMurphy, Israel Sanchez, Jeremy Sorese, Laura Park, Phil McAndrew, Kali Ciesemier

During this short period of time since the tragedy happened, many projects and donations have already started up from the design world. We the Designers, Illustrators, Creatives, Artists, do what we do best; we offer up our skills, and do whatever we can for the people involved in the Haiti earthquake.
Tomorrow we here at Thunder Chunky are going to be launching our own project to help raise some money for the cause, but in the mean time we’ve rounded up a few projects which are currently running, raising money to Help Haiti. We hope that you can show your support by visiting these sites, and spend some money if you haven’t donated already.
